Average house price tops £200,000
The average UK property came with a £201,090 price tag in December. This is an annual increase of 9.9%, Prices rose by 9.1% in the three months leading up to December, and by 10.7% in the capital.
House prices were highest in England, at £208,525, and lowest in Scotland at £147,687.
For would-be first-time buyers, buying a property moved ever further out of reach. Prices for this group rose by 9.4% in December, and the average paid for a first property in the UK was £155,120.
